The Department of Veterans’ Affairs is committed to creating a diverse workforce. DVA is running an affirmative measures Graduate recruitment round to attract Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants.
The 2019 DVA Graduate Development Program is based in Canberra. It is a structured 11-month development program designed to give you exposure to the broad range of important work DVA undertake, whilst propelling you into a successful career within the Australian Public Service. Three work placements are offered to you over the year. These placements provide you with the opportunity to be placed in several business areas within DVA, such as the:
• Secretary’s office
• Client and Commemorations Division
• Rehabilitation and Support Division
• Health and Community Services Division
• Business Support Services Division
• Transformation and Engagement Division
• Legal Services and Assurance Branch
• Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service
DVA provides a range of benefits to help you strengthen the skills that you attained at University, whilst also providing you with support, new experiences and learning opportunities:
• Ongoing training provided by both DVA and the Australian Public Service Commission
• Comprehensive orientation to your new career
• An extensive support system, including provision of a former graduate ‘buddy’ and a dedicated Graduate team
• Travel to work in a state office for a week
Be an Australian citizen by 31 December 2018.
Have completed at least a three-year undergraduate degree from an Australian tertiary institution, awarded no earlier than 1 January 2014. If you have a degree from an overseas tertiary institution, it must be recognised as being equivalent to a three-year Australian degree by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR) by 31 December 2018.
